For a while now I've been using Ubuntu as my Linux distro of choice. On Monday I have to reinstall one of the Ubuntu servers at work, so I thought I'd have a look at Debian this weekend, to see if it would be better. I had a look for Debian vs Ubuntu posts online, but didn't find anything conclusive. So I went ahead and installed it on my laptop...

Wikipedia is addictive and I frequently go there to look something up and then get distracted by the multitude of links - ending up on a completely unrelated page!
For a while I've been thinking about ways to prevent this, and today I wrote a Greasemonkey script that shows a confirmation box every time I click on a link inside Wikipedia, to remind me not to do that!

I found out, while idly browsing Wikipedia this morning, that VMware Server is actually free.
Well I was planning on installing Linux on my server until it broke, so I downloaded that and I now have a virtual Ubuntu server running on my laptop. Perfect for web development & general hackery.
There are Windows and Linux (host) versions available, and a lot of choices of guest OS, unlike some VMs.
