Just a quick post to say that a web site I've been working on at work for the last month or so has just gone live:

Just thought I'd mention that AVG 7 will no longer be supported from tomorrow. If you've got it you'll probably know this already because it'll have been reminding you daily for the last few weeks. What you may not have found though is how to download the new, also free version. I say this because a) it took me a while to find it, and b) my mum thought she had to pay for the new version.
Well anyway you don't have to pay for it, just go here to download the free version. I recommend clicking the small blue-on-white link that says "(AVG Server)" because the main link is to CNET, and when I tried (twice on different days) I could only download at dial-up speed from them (about 5kb/s, with a 12Mbps cable connection).

After Rob showed me this contact juggling video earlier I went to investigate what the balls are made of and where you can get them - just out of interest (and procrastination).
Via Ebay I found this site:
www.jugglingballs-u-like-r-us-direct.co.uk
Now is it just me or does that sound like they couldn't decide what to name it (Balls-U-Like, Balls-R-Us, Juggling Balls Direct - all very similar to other companies) and so just mashed them all together into one long and rather unmemorable name?
(I'm also curious as to why there's a hyphen between every word but not between the first two.)

On my way home from uni today I went to Tesco to get bread, so I went to Boots too to get dental floss sticks. The sign under them said "Save £1: £1.99 £0.99", so I thought I'd get a few of them while they're cheap and to save me going back. I went with 4. Then I noticed another sign saying "3 for 2 on all dental products", so I thought I don't know if they'll let me have both but I'll make it 6 anyway.
Now let's calculate this... 6 × Ã‚Â£0.99 = £5.94. 3 for 2 makes that £3.96 if they give me both offers.
So I took them to the till... £1.96 the computer said. The lady serving looked at it twice and decided it was correct, so I got £11.94 worth of stuff for £1.96.
I looked at the receipt and what it did is calculate £1.99 × 6 = £11.94. The 3 for 2 offer makes it £7.96, then subtract £1 × 6 products on offer (including the free ones) makes it £1.96. To quote Ricky, Sweet.

I'm just watching an old episode of Friends and Chandler describes his new computer:
"12mb of RAM, 500mb hard drive, built-in spreadsheet capabilities and a modem that transmits at over 28000 bps"
But some things don't change:
Phoebe: "What are you going to use it for?"
Chandler: "Games and stuff"

Last year I started an annoyances category. If I still had that I would have added this one to it yesterday:
People who wear flip-flops in the library! You can hear them whenever they walk around!
(Edit: I recreated the category March 2008)

Note: For some reason, yellow means complete and green means not complete! You'll see what I mean.
